SUCKS! I am 1 hour into potty training, you know, the real way and I have to say I'm not enjoying it thus far. It's 8 am and already we have 1 accident under our belt. I've decided just to go cold turkey on diapers. I know she didn't really get it at first and that's why she wet her pants. She had undies and sweatpants on, probably just didn't think about it. But she completely flipped out when she went. Screaming and crying, "I'm Wet!, I'm Wet!". Yep she was alright. Right in the middle of her breakfast.
So, starting this today may have been a bit ambitious as I have several places to go. Brave you say? I'd say more like CRAZY. I have to run to Target to get another potty chair and several more pairs of undies, as we've already gone through 2 pairs this morning. Then it's off to playgroup. Luckily, there are other toddlers there and the moms know what I'm going through. I'm the first to venture down this road though, so I'm sure we'll be good for a few laughs. I may just have to use a pull-up for the Target trip though as Annika HATES big people potties. She barely uses her own potty chair and flips out when you try to put her on a normal one! So, we are going to get a different chair in hopes she likes it better. I'm thinking Dora or something.
So, if any of you seasoned potty training mamas out there have any advice, by all means, share! I've got a potty treat jar for her and explained it, so we'll see. But for now, I'll leave you with this pic, Annika in her big girl undies:
I found your blog thru another and thought I'd tell you what worked for us. We wrapped small gifts (mostly from the dollar store) and each time she went to the potty successfully she got to open a gift. She was honestly potty-trained in 1 day. At first she wore pull-ups at night, but it only took a couple of weeks before she didn't need them then either. We told a friend this trick that was having a very hard time potty training her daughter and it worked for her too. They had tried gifts, stickers, treats, etc...but the wrapping of the gifts made all the difference! Also, my daughter liked using her potty chair best at first, but would use a potty seat on the big potty downstairs. I bought her a Dora seat(a favorite) and a colorful stool and that seemed to help overcome the initial fear.

What a big girl! She will catch on soon enough, just give it a little time and patience :) At least she is aware when she is wet and obviously doesn't like it. that should help!

it worked really well for us to put them on the potty backwards so they were hugging the tank...
