Mr. Bennett is 3 days old. 3 days really isn't a long time, but I feel as though he's been with us forever. I am enjoying getting to know the new little man in my life. Some of my favorite things about him are:
1. His fabulous ability to burp. He is a champ!
2. His cute button nose, it is so small and sweet.
3. How stubborn he is. Although a leading factor in his current eating habits, I believe he will be strong in nature and stand his ground.
4. How he curls his toes so tight it loosens the lead to his O2 sensor.
5. His tiny little booty, too cute for words.
My list will continue to grow and grow, and of course change over time. He is definitely the leading man in my life (move over Bri, you've got competition).
As far as an update goes, Bennett is doing really well. Our main focus is to get him to eat. Right now he's doing about half his feedings through a bottle, and half through a tube. We really need him to get all of his feedings through a bottle consistently before he's allowed to come home. The earliest he'll be home is Sunday, and of course that completely depends on how well he eats. He's on a bili blanket. He's slightly jaundiced, not really enough to worry about it, but we are being proactive to reduce the effects (sleeping a lot and not eating). We just don't want that to interfere with his progress. His breathing is getting better each day, it still tires him out, but with each new day, it improves.
I am doing pretty well. I was pretty sore and tired today. My incision is draining a little so we are just watching for infection. Hopefully we won't have to deal with that. I am being discharged in the morning, they let me stay one more day which is great. I'm excited to get home. I'm sad I'll be leaving Bennett behind, but the girls are missing me immensely and are completely out of whack. It will be nice for them to get back to a somewhat normal state, with mommy at home.
I also just wanted to thank all of you so much for your kind words last night. It helped soooo much. I went to bed feeling good about things and knowing that I'm only human. I really think I'm too hard on myself sometimes. I know I won't ever come close to achieving perfection in my lifetime and all I needed was someone to tell me that I'm doing a great job at all this juggling. Thank you to each of you.
Alright, I have to eat some nasty ass hospital food and go feed my little guy. Seriously, what's the deal with the shit they serve? Oh, and I also should mention that I LOVE PERCOCET! It rules!
he will have to be stubborn with 2 older sisters to boss him!

Just don't get hooked on that shit! lol. Sounds like Bennett has already improved a lot, great to hear. If he is stubborn there is no doubt he gets it from his dad (Taurus). I bet the girls and the dogs can't wait to see you, hopefully Bennett will join you as soon as he gets eating more.
I might want to stop by your house this weekend whenever it is convenient to grab my Cricut cartridges...I miss them :)
Talk to you soon
